Abdul Shakeel has over 25 years of banking industry experience, with deep expertise in retail banking, digital innovation and risk management. He has held senior positions at ADCB for 15 years, including the last five years as Head of Retail Banking, where he managed a team of 2,000 professionals and launched many of ADCB’s award- winning consumer products and digital banking channels. Prior to joining ADCB, he spent over 10 years with Citibank in the UAE. Abdul Shakeel holds a Master of Science Degree in Risk Management from NYU Stern School of Business, New York, USA.
Omar Bouhafs joined Al Hilal Bank in 2024 as the Acting Head of Finance, bringing with him over 16 years of experience in leading financial functions. A certified Chartered Accountant (CAANZ), Omar has a diverse background, having held various key roles in Kuwait’s financial sector and the 'Big Four' accounting firms. His extensive expertise, financial acumen, and strategic insights are invaluable assets to Al Hilal Bank.
Transformational CIO with over 20 years’ experience driving business strategy and innovation across banking and ICT sectors globally. George joined Al Hilal Bank PJSC from Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in Singapore where he most recently held the role of CIO for SCB’s Global Virtual Banking Platform and Private Bank & Wealth Business. Prior to SCB, George also led DBS Bank Singapore Technology venture in Digibank delivering a Digital Bank platform in India and Indonesia that resulted in acquiring a million customers in the first year and winning Euromoney’s World’s Best Digital Bank in 2016, first ever Asian Bank to win this award.
George has a proven track record in delivering highly scalable technology solutions that align with business strategies, transforming businesses into customer-centric and agile organizations. He will be key in leading the development of Al Hilal’s new Technology platform to assist our Digital agenda.
Aref Al-Ramli joined Al Hilal Bank as Chief Digital Officer in 2022, bringing over 21 years of leadership experience in the finance industry. He is responsible for driving the development and implementation of Al Hilal’s digital bank initiative. This includes formulating strategy, overseeing product roadmaps, and designing innovative customer experiences.
Timothy Liverton joined Al Hilal Bank in 2023 as Chief Risk Officer, with a wealth of banking experience gained over a nearly twenty-five-year career. He has a proven track record in commercial and retail banking, with broad international experience – having lived and worked in the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman), Asia and the United States.
Ahmed Al Khaja is Head of Human Resources at Al Hilal Bank, with over a decade of experience in talent acquisition and HR management at major businesses in the UAE. Ahmed has built on this success at Al Hilal, helping the bank achieve and maintain a leading Emiratization ratio of over 50%. He has also optimised recruitment metrics through data-driven dashboards and tracking systems.
Adnan Sajwani was appointed as Al Hilal Bank's Chief Compliance Officer in 2023. With 15 years of experience in financial compliance, Adnan leads and manages the bank's compliance function, acting as a focal point for all relevant initiatives. He makes sure that Al Hilal Bank's stakeholders and own business activities follow relevant regulations, policies, and procedures. Adnan is dedicated to upholding the company's code of conduct and fostering a culture of compliance within the organisation.
Dr. Mohamed Obadah Adi is Head of Shari’ah Supervision at Al Hilal Bank. With almost 23 years of experience in the field of Shariah and banking, Dr. Mohamed is responsible for monitoring and supervising activities to maintain Shariah compliance and assist in developing and creating innovative Shariah investment and financing products and services. Before joining the Bank, Dr. Mohamed was a Supervisor of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language at ADNOC’s Technical Institute. Dr. Mohamed holds a Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Islamic Studies from the University of Wales in the UK and Master’s Degree from Al Azhar University’s Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies from United Arab Emirates University.
Hassan Al Khalsan is the Head of Distribution at Al Hilal Bank with 22 years of expertise in personal banking. As Head of Distribution at Al Hilal Bank, he drives strategies, ensures efficient customer service, and explores investment opportunities. Nada Mohamed Shadid is the Head of Treasury at Al Hilal Bank. She is responsible for the management of liquidity, gaps, and regulatory ratios, as well as money markets funding, foreign exchange and Sukuk investment portfolios of the Bank. Nada joined the Bank in 2019 and has 10 years of experience in Treasury and Investments. Previously, Nada held significant Treasury positions in ADCB, where she was responsible for running the short-term investments portfolio, as well as generating liabilities from strategically important clients and markets. Nada holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Management from Franklin University in Lugano, Switzerland.
Maryam Yousuf Ahli has been the Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication at Al Hilal Bank since 2008. With over 15 years’ experience in the industry, Maryam leads a team of senior managers, while working closely with internal and external stakeholders. She plans, develops and maintains a year-long marketing schedule, ensuring that all marketing priorities align to business goals. An expert in strategic brand building, and digital and social media, Maryam liaises with a network of creative and media agencies throughout the execution of all Retail and Commercial Banking advertising campaigns. Acting as Al Hilal Bank’s brand guardian, she ensures all communications comply with regional and global brand guidelines and strategies. As well as leading the development and implementation of local sponsorship strategies and plans, Maryam is at the forefront of the Bank’s pioneering CSR strategy, in line with Abu Dhabi’s Environmental Vision.
